How to find an inmate
Alaska has no county jails, so people arrested in the Northwest Arctic Borough are held short-term by local police in Kotzebue or moved to an Alaska Department of Corrections facility such as Anvil Mountain Correctional Center in Nome. Call the facility with the person's full name and date of birth to confirm custody, or contact the Alaska Department of Corrections through its official website. The same DOC resources cover people sentenced to state prison.
Visitation
Anvil Mountain Correctional Center follows Alaska DOC visitation policy, which usually requires visitors to be approved in advance and to bring valid photo ID. Call the facility or check the Alaska DOC website for current visiting schedules and rules before you visit.
Bail and bond
A judge or magistrate of the Alaska Court System sets bail and release conditions, usually at the first appearance. Contact the court handling the case or the holding facility for the bail amount and the accepted payment methods.
Mail and money
Mail to inmates must include the inmate's full name and identifying information and is inspected under Alaska DOC rules. The Department of Corrections sets the approved methods for adding money to inmate accounts. Confirm the current mailing address and deposit options with Anvil Mountain Correctional Center or the Alaska DOC.
